Statement from Harry;
When we finished our second year and knowing that we will soon have to start a summer show for our third year, I had an idea of naming our show to do with photography, as this is for us, so the name ƒ (number) was my idea, as I thought it was a fresh and new idea. Wasn’t until we came back to see how many of us photography students were present for our third year, that I was able to create the number and logo.
When creating the work, I used Adobe Illustrator to allow myself to create the shapes and font, the font was Futura. When completed and at the right size, I then saved and continued in Photoshop, to then adjust the colours, with a gradient adjustment, then changing the hue to create the colours.
The idea behind the logo is to attract artists/photographer enthusiast to see what this ƒ number means, by a new number, or a photography group. For the audience who aren’t fully photographers, but are interested, the name and colour will make them feel interested with it, as it will hopefully be strong enough for them to find out what it means.
From the meeting, we had a discussion on what changes are needed, main focuses were adjusting the colours, having a green with a more purple background had appealed to most of the cohort, with suggesting making the shape close in more, such as an aperture ring. The next step is to create GIFs of moving the shape around and changing colours."
Here you can find out about what all our students are up to.
